I must comment on the Mage Wars by Mercedes Lackey. I was REALLY looking forward to that trilogy when it came out. I mean, yes, it was a promised recount of the Mage Wars in Pre-Valdemar history. What did we get? One book that touched on the actual mage wars(in a very compressed fashion) and two books of crap that made me sick. A chronicle of the Mage Wars from start to finish would have been MUCH better, with Skandranon facing Ma'ar in a climatic battle. But noo....

The ending to the CCS manga sucked. But then, I begin to dislike het pairings. So nyah.

The Buffy season premiere was good, and I shall corrupt Bamirin into adoration of the Big Bad, because he has the leather jacket of extreme spiffiness. I would attempt to convert her to worshipping He Who Wears Leather Pants, but only the Evil version is allowed to wear the Pants, so he's not always as spiffy as he should be.

I should've said this the other day, but I didn't think of it, Gamefan started sucking after awhile. They rated a fishing game higher than Final Fantasy 8. They also fired one of the best game reviewers ever, Nick Rox. Now for my speech about hot man on man action.
Have you not noticed all of Final Fantasy 8 and Vagrant Story? I have long been arguing the case that many of the major characters in these games are gay, either openly so, in Vagrant Storys case, or in the closet, in FF8.
Look at how Squall seems to dislike women to some extent, sure the theme of the game is his learning to love Rinoa, but my theory is that he and Zell have secret crushes on each other. Seifer loves Squall (remember the prison torture scene?), but he sees the way Squall looks at Zell, and so his jealousy makes Zell the enemy in his eyes. Irvine is gay, but isn't in love with anyone in particular. He was raised by a strict southerner father, so he learned to be afraid of his own homosexual feelings, and thus, must pose a macho front to hide his real self. All the female characters, Selfie, Quistis and Rinoa, are left confused and hurt by being rejected or neglected by their would be lovers. Lagunas straight, but his mom used to dress him up in girly clothes, that's why he wears his hair incredibly long and well groomed, and why he's so shy about women. Kiros and Ward are gay as hell though, and I imagine that they're always trying to get Laguna to go away for about 15 minutes or so, so's they can sneak off and get busy.
Vagrant Story is a totally different thing. Sure Hardin and Syd may go at it now and then, and Rosencratz and Romeo probably got something going, but for the most part, they're all to busy with their respective tasks at hand to worry about hot lovin'. Although had they met under different circumstance, I imagine Ash and Syd might live quite the lovely life together.
I'm also suspicious of Cloud and Barret (and possibly Vincent and Cid), the cast of most King of Fighters fighting games (Iori and Benimaru especially), Ken and Ryu of Street Fighter, Cyan's moustache, Um Jammer Lammy, Gilgamesh and Ekidnu (have you ever read the Epic of Gilgamesh? How could he possibly be straight?) and Link. It's all there if you just look hard enough. By the way, if you print this, I suspect there'll be quite a few negative letters from homophobes tomorrow.

Okay! AWA Report time! XD
Friday: Arrived too late to register, so simply wandered around the various panels inspecting anime music vids and other things. Skipped Anime Hell to attend Yaoi After Dark, hosted by the Spiffy Vilane(*goes to check her website...), Violaine! Yes! She was spiffy! Panel was spiffy. Lots of CGB(Cute Gay Boys, as Dora and I engaged in Gay-Boy watching.(HAH, bamirin! My ability to determine the gender of a androgynous person are more 133t than yours! XDDD)) After the panel, we intended to attend a Yaoi anime show. However, we became engrossed in a conversation with other con-goers in one of several concourses within the building. This went on for over an hour. Then Dora, I, TRB, and Dora's Dad retired to the 12th floor room, Dora's Dad fell asleep and he SNORES. x.x; But this didn't detract from our trio fan-personing. But first...
We were about to settle in for fan-personing when we realized we hadn't yet taken up Violaine's invite to see a special Gackt picture. Mistook a Gackt picture for a very prettied picture of Violaine(the woman looks like Gackt!), saw the special picture. Then we went up and fan-personed for a few hours with some disturbing discussions that had us rolling around laughing. Then we ventured on to bed. Saturday: Woke 2-3 hours later, went back out and did more fun stuff. Dealer's room was special. I have a Bastard!! manga vol. 2, and a Gasaraki dvd(first one, natch!) and I firmly think it will rule. XD
We moved on from there to a few assorted panels. They were good. Saw more anime music videos. The absolute most hilarious thing that can be conceived of, Tenchi set to the He-Man theme(even timed to the Prince Adam voice-over!) It was WROOOOOOOONG(to quote frank), and bust-a-gut funny. Abandoned the Aged Parental Unit(Dora's Dad) to hunt for TRB, who had become separated from us. Rejoined Dora's Dad, watched some other stuff or another, being anime, I think. Saber Marionette J is crack. Pure and Simple. Crack.
Went to Ruby Tuesday's for dinner. Twas good, TRB treated(You rule, TRB!).
Returned to the hotel, attended the Cosplay, which has some PRETTY costumes. And the 133t Gunblade of Squall. Yue ruled. And I misremember the rest.
Moved on after the costume contest, and went to the aforementioned Violaine's room and participated in a yaoi panel. Which basically constituted looking at Gackt, Eva stuff, Gackt, Gundam Wing, Gackt, Gackt, Gackt. Then, when Violaine revealed that the Yaoi panel was spur of the moment, and she had no anime with her. Dora and I sprang into action and retrieved the cd Dora's Dad and I had put together(containing 9 episodes of Gravitation) and brought it back and watched 2 episodes of it.(would have been more, but she ran us out due to an early rise to leave. Lacking the desire to do much else, we rolled back up to our hotel room and once more fan-personed. Conceiving one truly sinister idea. XDDD and then we slept and departed in the morning.
Thus endeth my first full Con experience. Twas a blast. And will attend next year. XD

Admittedly, I did not share your frustration with GC as I first read it, other than to really dislike Lysaer even more than I had before. But by the latter half of the tale, I was greatly cheering for everyone's favorite dark-haired mage, Arithon. XD Ye shall see. Arithon has some surprises for EVERYONE coming up soon. Particularly the Fellowship.

Today on DBZ: Vegeta makes Cell his bitch. Yeah, it's a rerun. But they've been dragging this damn Afterlife Tournament out on the new episodes for too long. But tomorrow should be interesting, as it'll be the (hopefully) final part of that, Goku vs Pikkon. And then we get to see Gohan and the rest. Ah well.. Ooh.. pink water... *_*

Okay! Here are some of my thoughts about this morning's edition of Digimon!
Quite Simply, Digimon 3. Kicks. Ass.
We are four episodes in, and it rules three kinds of cool, with a cherry on top.
Rika is cool.
Renamon is cool.
This is fact.
Transformers: Robots in Disguise is a disgrace to the TF name.
This is also fact.
For evidence, I present some of the things I saw in today's premiere of TF.

chibipoechan: For starters, the Predacons are going to kidnap this dood who's a natural resources expert, right?
doranobaka: Okay.
chibipoechan: Well, for SOME inexplicable reason, this necessitates that Prime has to bring the dood's kid along(even phoning him on a cell-phone.) to save the kid's dad.
doranobaka: *arches an eyebrow*
doranobaka: YEAH.
chibipoechan: *nods* I am still trying to figure that one out myself.
chibipoechan: And then there's the fact that the Transformers, HUGE mecha with sentience, have attack-phrases.
doranobaka: ^O.O^
doranobaka: That is wrong.
chibipoechan: I mean, WHY does a giant robot need an attack phrase?!?!?!
chibipoechan: Plus, they spent more time sounding like they were brilliant and polite masterminds trying to out-talk the other with the most flowery speech than FIGHTING.

A little something for all of you...
Jazoul was not one to run from a fight. Nor was he one to give up without a show of resistance. However, once he'd delivered the package that his employers had requested, he'd stayed barely long enough to collect his fee. Why did he run, you ask? Was it the enormous snakes that were settled in the room at the three, six, nine, and twelve o'clock points? Or perhaps it was the silver-haired old man, who seemed more bone than flesh, staring at him with those empty eyes.
No, in truth it was none of these things. What had sent him running from that place in fear of his life had been far more terrifying than the supernatural horrors he regularly saw. What had it been that made him pale, and flee without looking back? Jazoul, a full-grown man in his mid-thirties, had run screaming into the night because of a rabbit.
For all appearances, it was a simple, cuddly and cute, white rabbit with a few black spots that made it even more adorable. But the truth was far more sinister....
Will Thompson tossed the booklet down in disgust, looking at the men by the camera. "What the hell is this crap!?!?! A demon-bunny from hell?"
"Mr. Thompson," the director said with a sigh. "The story is about far more than a demon bunny from hell."
"Oh really?" Will flipped through the pages, then read derisively. "Maria quivered, unsure what to do as she felt her lover's strong paws caress her once more in her nether regions. I'm sorry, you're right. It's about a demon-bunny from hell that gets some nookie. My mistake."

Okay, just to expand on something that you said.
The CCS dub is bad. This is true.
The Sailor Moon dub(the original 65 episodes at least) is not bad. As dubs go, it's decent. Admittedly some of their choices on how they went about dubbing could have been better. My anime interest existed before Sailor Moon, but grew larger after watching it, as the dub is passable. Not the greatest, but at least it's not the CCS dub. Now THAT is an atrocity.
Just adding my thoughts there.. don't mind me...
