Super-Special-dora-Takes-Over-Poechan's-Blog Edition

Today is our last day here in Colonial Beach. Sad. Oh well, it'll be nice to be home in my own bed. I've been sleeping on an air matress while Poe-chan gets the sofabed in the living room. I am not looking forward to the trip, but it could be significantly worse. I have 37 issues of Bone and my spandy new GBA to keep me company. Not to mention the four library books due on the 30th. ^-.-^;;;
Amusing escapade of the Holiday Season: The Electric Guitar Affair. Alan's brother, James, found a random electric guitar on his doorstep Christmas morning. It's a very nice (though very out of tune) guitar, and the case is rather spiffy too. There was no name, no address, nothing on it to indicate ownership. Our pet theory is that a random traveling musician left it to James's son, Alex, in hopes of creating a new rock superstar.
I've very little else to say na no da, other than that I am saddened to find that my NES and SNES were both stolen about six months ago (we only recently determined this for certain), and that I am very happy to soon be using our six quart dutch oven. I think, if it's okay with whoever's hosting this year, I may wind up cooking something to bring to the New Year get-together. Admittedly, the options are limited, but I do make a very mean chili.
Aah well. G'night minna. *picks up her GBA again* ^n.n^;;;

Because I haven't blogged in a day, and because I can't just be quiet about this...
Subaru: I'm Boring as Hell.
Seishirou: Yup.
Okay, Subaru seems mildly interesting. But there is positively nothing sexual between them(bearing in mind that I haven't seen TB or much of the manga). Frankly, as I have said before, Seishirou seems to not give a damn whether Subaru has this fanwanked urge to have his behind ravished by the sex-machine that is Seishirou. Zero chemistry there. Hell, as I've previously mentioned, Fuuma(akaSKANK!) and Kamui(akaFuuma'sBitch) have more chemistry in those scenes where Kamui assumes his role as Fuuma'sBitch than in anything I've seen between Subaru(akaI'mBoring) and Seishirou(akaI don't give a damn.)

Finally, I have returned to this blog!......okay, so I wasn't really gone that long.
Spent the previous night at a friend's place. Addicted her to the spiffy goodness that is the first Wild Arms game. Good game, lots of challenge to it, who cares if it's quite possibly one of the oldest rpgs on the PS1.
Anyways, not a lot to say at the moment. Busy plotting with TRB.

But as for the whole S/S deal. I simply don't get it. I admit to being corrupted to yaoi by Dora-chan. And THERE"S NOTHING there between them. Subaru wants to kill him, big woop. Seishirou gives me the vibe of 'I don't give a damn either way'. So I agree with Eggplant, they're fanwanking their desire to see S/S together.
For those not in the know, to fanwank is interpret something to suit your own ends, usually by trying to make it fit logically within the bounds of the story. Examples: B/S shippers fanwank scenes to suit themselves(and as they can be interpreted that way, I have no problem with it). Bad Fanwanking: Saying screw continuity and jerking it around to fit your own desires: B/A shippers, who persist in carrying on about something that just is no longer there.

Ya know, while I can admit that I wasn't much of a fan of X for quite a while, the anime is drawing me in. But now that I've seen episode 9 featuring the infamous pair of Seishirou and Subaru, I must say, I didn't have an opinion about them other than 'eh' before(for obvious non-caring reasons) and I have less of one now. Frankly, I don't see why the fangirls are all creaming their panties over them(pardon the language). they're BORING. Plus, if it's the kind of rabid fanaticsm I think it is, then I know I'll get turned off of it real quick(B/A shippers.. *shudder*). So yeah, I mean, seeing Fuuma get all 'You are my bitch, Kamui' on Kamui or hell, just being amused by Sorata is a hell of a lot more interesting than seeing Subaru stalk Seishirou.
Also, did anyone else get a really sleezy vibe off of Fuuma on first sighting? Admittedly my only source there is the anime, but I have to say I don't care for him at all(and not just because he's a skanky ho.)

Ragabash-san, I can sympathize. The Buffy/Angel relationship supporters who watch Buffy prove to be a seriously disturbed bunch from what I've seen.(see post of a day or so ago). They have latched onto the relationship to the point of obsession, determined that everything should have stayed as it was in Season 2, their should have been no advancement in the characters at all from that point. There are moments that they make me wonder why I'm watching the show, so obsessed and verbal are they.

The word for today is: smut!
Smut is a good word.
Let us look at some uses of smut, shall we?
A good usage of smut: Anything involving Buffy and Spike shagging like bunnies.
A better usage of smut: More of the same.
A mediocre usage of smut: Angel and Wesley shagging.
Another good usage of smut: Notty and Sara shagging like bunnies(I refuse to believe Notty is related to her, Irons lies out his ass, I say)
A very bad usage of smut: Buffy and Angel(the angel factor drags anything down). And Jake McCarty and anybody(the Hair is a fearful thing...)

I found a copy of Tales of Phantasia, an rpg by Namco that never made it to the states(clearly my copy is a translated rom). While the game has been interesting, and was clearly an attempt to go somewhere other games hadn't been at the time(SNES era). I mean, it had VOCAL music, and voice clips, a rarity, if I'm not mistaken for cartridge games. But while I have found it to be interesting, I have some gripes. Most particularly with the battle system.
The combat system works like this. Any battle has you on one side of the screen(and your party members) and the enemies on the other. Much like a 2-d fighter, inputting commands sends him running towards the enemy to attack. However, as I have discovered with flying enemies, there are serious flaws in the system. Assume a flying enemy gets really close to you. Well, your main character(the only one you directly control), usually runs and jumps as his normal attack. If the enemy is too close and can fly, then all he does is stand there below the enemy swinging his sword futilely. It's quite irritating when this happens, because of the difficulty involved in getting him to pull off a special attack to reach the enemy.
My next gripe. And this pertains to FFVI also. I loathe most 2-d fighters that require you to press a complex series of buttons to perform a special attack. Because, frankly, I suck at most of them. Sabin in VI had this problem with his special skill, the Blitz. Cless' attacks are much the same. And this bugs me, because I have never had the mindset required for pulling off combo commands.

I unearthed a pair of pages related to the original MMPR series and it's sentai counterpart, Zyuranger, and I must say, they butchered that show beyond anything I could have ever imagined. The hack job they did to early DBZ episodes doesn't even compare to this. Hell, the butchering of CCS doesn't compare to this. It's HORRIBLE.
